Ok so the timing of the annoucement was bad (coming during a downturn in markets generally), but he has an impressive resume, with some pretty important contacts, an important director to keep on board, I would have thought. From the Anteo website:

Robert is a senior advisor to the Foundation for Research Science and Technology in New Zealand and has an extensive network in California, particularly in the diagnostic market segment.
