The Mitchell family originally had a financial management group called Lowell Capital.

Stephen's father, Peter was the Chairman or Managing Director.

From memory, I think that Peter and his two sons, Stephen and Julian were the key staff.

They managed portfolios for a number of clients.

A few years later there was a major split within the group, and Julian left and went on to establish JM Financial Group, which still exists.

I think that one of the major holders of Molopo was the Lowell Resources Fund (LRF). As to how much of LRF belonged to the Mitchell family, I do not know, but it was a unitised fund, so presumably there were clients of Lowell invested in it.
