What is the reason for this ?

Here's a theory.

If you were a major insto holder of LNN, you could continue to hold them, and also borrow and short shares you don't own.

By doing this, you can get the money for the shares now, without selling them. You can defer the actual sale until the next FY probably if the deal takes that long to conclude.

Any other theories ?

It seems very strange to me that this is one of the top volume shorts every day this week.
