Now for the 6 month comparison:
DJIA: +11%
VIL: +920%
My point is that it's a fallacy that stocks follow the DOW. It is far more likely that stocks in the ASX Top 100 will follow the DOW fairly closely but not small, speculative stocks. They react on stock specific news with far more volatility, both on the upside and down side.
