Qantas was in decline in the years leading up to this, just read the QAN threads here for example....this way Joyce has brought the issue to a head. Time will tell if he is right, I think QAN's risk may be rewarded in the medium term once things settle down.
At the end of the day though, how can private companies compete with carriers funded by oil rich states?
