Sir V P this is a worry but this has been hinted at before more than once.
It's an Indian media rumour at this stage and whether true or not it doesn't seem to be forcing NMDC hands.
If it is a bluff then it will weaken MAK's negotiation position in my opinion.
If not then you are right and the Indian's are too slow but there are many other projects out there.
Also Mak are out shopping too so could do with some cash!
