at the risk of getting blasted, or accused of down ramping, or any kind of ramping...

    Your all wrong!

you can short sell ANY share.

Even though it is not an approved ASX shortable share, there is an entire system set up which allows funds to "borrow" shares for as long as they need them. They then sell those shares and buy them back when the price is lower, then they 'return' them. That sounds suspiciously like short selling to me.

In fact the 'problem shorting' on all the companies that have been aggressively sold down has been done using this technique. After all, the ASX limits the % of a Cos shares that can be shorted, and you can hardly start an avalanche within those parameters (im not sure what the limit is, but i think it was around a max limit of 20% of all tradeable shares).

Although, i dont know how much interest the big funds are willing to have in specis (thats what MAK is right now,no matter how good the story is). I would think if it doesnt qualify as a long, it wont qualify as a short (and i dont mean if its a well run or poorly run co. I mean that they have rules like min market cap, or liquidity levels, or in the case of shorting - a really good chance of it actually retracing without their help).

I hope that clears it up a little for you all
