For anyone interested in Iran, this video interview with Nick Kristof is interesting. He is just back from a 1700 mile trip around Iran where he talked to all kinds of people including agricultural labourers by the look of them. A lot of things e says ring true: how nice people are (it is maybe to compensate for the anti-Western rhetoric that comes out of their Government). People were very nice to me during the revolution. Interestingly, and I forgot this, he too thinks regime change is coming soon. (He has been to Iran before too, so he is not some novice reporter bamboozled by clever Iranians). It is the second video down on this web page:

He mentions factories closing because of the sanctions: I expect interest rates have had to be put up to defend the rial and that alone would flick some profit makers into loss makers perhaps. The sanctions are set to get a lot worse of course.
