The government got into trouble as the original focus was to protect the overseas student business and the tourist business
Even when they had to bring in a two week curfew, the Victorian governemnt got over that by "paying" students to take a two week holiday in Singapore
As there are hundreds of thousands of Asian students in the country I wonder how much taxpayer money was spent to boost private industry
Then when it was apparent that the virus had arrived in Australia the focus now was 100% towards giving taxpayer money to business, even to business that they had already shut
down
Then millions were put out of work so that the economy could be quickly rebuilt
