It is a hard one to get right and the bigger the compny the more likely for personalities and financial considerations to come into play.When long service was 15 years a long time ago,companies used to sack workers at 14.5 years to avoid it.But on the other side ,a friend of mine had a small trucking business and one driver demolished two or three loading ramps and the wall out of a shearing shed,with the result that when clients rang him to order a truck it was conditional on that driver not coming,so he sacked him.He took my friend to court and got $16000 odd dollars.
