Hairyback...it all goes to Indonesia for education, and that figure is about right.
On another note, I worked with a woman who spent her early years in Indonesia. She said it was a waste of time donating money to the Tsunami victims, as none of it would get to those in need.
Indonesia is reportedly so corrupt, at the top layers, that one can't help but question how much of Australia's donations, whether it be for education, health, security or whatever, gets funneled into the hands of the powerful.
It is a shame that the power-brokers in Australia are unable to understand the old adage that 'charity begins at home' - not just the Queensland flood victims, what about all those who have lost everything they owned from bush fires in recent years. Floods are shocking, but fires are terrifying imho.
