Having lived in the US, I can tell you that it is very fashionable to live in a BIG house which has a different room for almost any occasion. The houses also have three or four bathrooms. They drive the biggest SUV they can get their hands on, usually on lease (when I wanted to pay cash for my car in the US, the car dealer was surprised and suspicious). I think he thought that I was a drug dealer with all that cash…..
It is no wonder that the US is in the mess it is in. The rest of the world would like to imitate the US consumer. Hence, the mess we are in and I fear the future we will all have to face with the Earth’s resources dwindling.
It’s time mankind took toll of his actions and started living within it’s means. Sadly, we are in an age of greed and accumulation. We are all guilty as it is in our nature. Changes must be made at the grass roots level and we need good leadership. It’s a pity Al Gore didn’t become US president. Howard needs his As* KICKED!
Folks, please think of our planet. Do the simple things. Turn off lights when you leave a room. Don’t waste petrol driving up the street. Don’t idle your car for long periods. Live in a smaller a house. Multitask the usable space. Plant some trees and shrubs in the garden. Collect and use your rain water.
If we did the simple things our planet will be better off and we will all benefit.
