My belief is that the reason CST moves so quickly on relatively low volumes is because there is very little trading stock around. I.e. the stock is very tightly held.

I have been told that there are many people (like myself) who hold respectable chunks of CST and have no intention of selling for some time yet.

Today's price movement/volume may be just a trading spike or it could be early indication of the much anticipated CDC report. The CDC publish new reports on Friday morning (our time). Of course today's move could be just the "Ridge effect" :)

The reason that many believe that the CDC will provide a major filip to CST's marketing efforts in the US is that it was the CDC (and the US military) who funded the Phase III trials and expedited FDA approval in the US. Part of the FDA approval was a recommendation that the CDC be responsible for training Doctors and Medical Authorities in the use of QFTB in the US.

We are looking at this stage for the CDC to make recommendations as to the appropriateness of QFTB over TST (the existing test) within the US TB control plans. We would also anticipate that they will release recommendations as to the actual processes to be undertaken to achieve the best possible results in the detection of LTBI through the use of QFTB. Such recommendations will then be adopted by the target markets - Pentitentiaries, Military and Immmigration.

The CDC were extremely keen to get FDA approval for QFTB and it is for this reason that we are hoping for some concrete recommendations very soon (it is now more than 9 months since FDA approval). Like Ridge, I have heard a rumour that the CDC recommendations have been prepared already and are to be announced very soon.
