Yes, immigrate to any new country and it looks better than the one you left - for about ten years usually then the reality sinks in. Australia is no utopia thats for sure.

Public opinion based on mis-information is alive and well here in Australia as much as it is in Malaysia and, dare I say it, is more destructive here. just look around you.

Flouride in water
vaccination of children
Gunns
Red meat and the beef exports.
Nanoparticles in sunscreen
permeate in milk
fishing policy
etc
etc

Yes, the list goes on and on and touches every facet of our life in Australia.

In many ways Malaysians enjoy more freedoms than Australians do. Standard of living may not yet be as high but they are going somewhere.

All this noise aside, Malaysia and Lynas is a good investment IMHO.
