Thoriumr is a great fuel for breeder and traveling wave reactors. Unfortunately Depleted Uranium works just as well in these applications and since it is already 90% processed in the making of enriched Uranium it is much less expensive when ready to be used. Many of the early experiments on the next generation reactorss used Thorium. All the new bigger experiments are using depleted uranium.
