A similar article also appears on 11th March 2011 in the World section of Singapore's The STRAITS TIMES section (page B6), which I happen to read on my way home from Singapore on Saturday:

Quite a few Environmental issues of concern, the MAIN concern is a repeat of the Famous Bukit Merah incident in Perak, Malaysia where a plant was linked to carcinogenic illnesses and birth defects.

That plant was closed in 1992.

As an investor, although I am after the PROFIT, I will not hesitate to pull out of Lynas if their story proofs true in due time.

To put things in a balanced perspective, LYC's Vice President of Corporate & Business Development (Matthew James) did assure the press that the LYC plant will emit lower radiation levels than the plant that was cited (the Mitsubishi facility in Bukit Merah, PERAK?).

I am a firm believer of PEOPLE & SAFETY before profits.

I am not down ramping, I am merely stating an opinion, even if there's one 1 such opinion on Hot Copper forums,

Let's hope that LYC will be as honorable to her words.

For that matter, I will NEVER invest in BP or any of her subsidiaries. NEVER. EVER.

Cheers, & have a great week,

    agathos, Perth.
