defamation action in malaysia seems to me to have been and will always be a little of a crap-shoot.

will be interesting to see the final legal resolution of the action.

individuals/NGO have always been extremely free with threats but unless they have covert political slush funds backing, will quickly fold and back-off. run-of-the-mill malaysians unlike the tycoons or well-off "artists" will never risk their own fortune initiating/fighting such legal cases.

for those who don't realize, favored NGOs really do get backed by the government sometimes even with the PM sitting quietly as its head. the top officers in such favored NGOs actually get a monthly stipend on-top of the actual funding for their activities. in this regard, some NGOs really are the unofficial arm of the government doing it's bidding covertly.

push-comes-to-shove, when it becomes increasingly difficult for the govt to delay issuance of the TOL, i reckon you'll see even more of the pro-Lynas NGOs showing themselves.
