Malaysian Government officials, told the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age on Wednesday that Lynas Corp still needs to remove more than 450,000 tonnes of radioactive waste from the country for its licence to be renewed in September.

But instead of removing any of the waste they were told to do so last December they actually increased production and waste. Was the increase in production in expectation the plant will be mothballed and licence suspended come September because complying with the licence requirements and removing all the waste by September is not possible ?
