    January 2nd: The Malaysian government is set to introduce new rules to regulate bauxite which will see it suspend mining. Furthermore, according to a government spokesman, bauxite exports to China will be halted prior to the cessation of mining. Over the past two years, the amount of bauxite mined in Malaysia has increased dramatically to meet demand in China.
