Interestingly Malcolm Fraser also said that Labors asylum seeker policy is harsher than Howards was.
He made the point that the current liberal Party is not the conservative liberal party of the Menzies era. I guess he would also have noticed that firstly under Howard and now particularly under Abbott true liberal conservatism has gone out the door and the Tea Partiers have seized control. Malcolm Turnbull a true Liberal conservative is the man most Australians want and they wait for their wishes to become a reality.
Its no wonder Costello has given him a serve in his book. As per my earlier post he is quoted as saying:
"At one point when we were in government, he asked for funding to pay for telephone and electricity wires to be put underground throughout the whole of his northern Sydney electorate to improve the amenity of the neighbourhoods," Mr Costello wrote.
Then there was Mr Abbott's request for the commonwealth to take over building local roads and bridges in his NSW seat. He also wanted the commonwealth to take over hospitals.
"He used to tell me proudly that he had learned all of his economics at the feet of Bob Santamaria," Mr Costello revealed in his book. "I was horrified. He once claimed he was 'the political love child' of John Howard and Bronwyn Bishop."
