That is a cynical view imo. Our parliament and key institutions represent the democracy and stability of our nation and if we allow them to be targeted it harms us all as a country.
Unfortunately we do have evil in our communities and it certainly is not confined to the odd lunatic terrorist. Things happen every day and our police do their best to keep people safe. In the case of terrorism you can be certain that the police and security personnel will pro-active in surveillance aimed at thwarting any attacks.
It is unfair imo to try to criticise our political leaders for stepping up security at our symbols of democracy, our parliament etc. That is just one aspect but you can be certain our State and Federal Police are ever on alert in our best interests.
