They are not the middle ground of the political spectrum
They are further left than the hard left and the left of the Labor party
Others is now the domain of voters who are the the middle ground
Thanks to LNP under Turnbull ignoring the middle LNP supporters (taking them for granted "who else can they vote for") in order to attract votes from the Labor socialist left and the Greens.... the parties nearest his heart
Maybe he did a wink wink to them to indicate if they vote for him in the LNP and he would install socialist policy that suit the left and stuff the LNP support base
