dan - yes, he can literally have it both ways, but how will the electorate see him - as someone who can't make up his mind?
incumbent govt's always get public backing in tougher times and his nit picking, will not be favourably viewed upon, if current polls are any indication
i think he is still politically naive to some extent - nothing wrong with that, but his tactics in wanting to be heard as opposition leader will need a new direction, imo
