YST, you mention blue chip like there are no punters there? Being bluechip is no magic talisman protecting your money from loss. Talk to shareholders at BHP and Santos. I lost all my money on one blue chip company years ago when it went bankrupt suddenly overnight (cooked books)
If we use a horse race analogy, the blue chip is a favourite as it has history in winning. It does not mean it can't lose but it also means the payout isn't that great either.
If you know how to pick the up and coming rookie you make better money.
