My guess CDU would be dead meat if the Chinese contractors had not taken over the risk and financing.

Also on a personal note I have found the Chinese far more reliable and easy to work with than my Australian manufacturers .They can take conceptual drawings through to finished high quality product in astounding short time. Leaves me able to concentrate on product innovation and growing my business.

Of more relevance to FAR I have found my partners in China are willing to take relatively big gambles in the hope of long term outcomes. I am not in resources game however I think generational planning is in their blood.

I don't think CN would let racism get in way of the best outcome for Farites.
