Malta is a smart play because it is a tax minimisation strategy. Malta has some favourable tax structures where you can pay no tax, or very little tax. I saw an article last year stating that Oxfam wants Malta be put on the "tax haven list". So what's the implication? Low/no tax while operating within the EU should produce favourable long term outcomes.
