I just read that the father died from the gun shot wound. That wasn't clear in the earlier bulletin.
For the best. They can't lock people up forever but he will never again threaten others. I make the assumption that he was out of his tree on drugs, and a long jail term would not have "cured" him of that addiction.
It is so sad. My sympathies to friends and family.
