very good question.... in previous experience, the larger companies sit back and expect to be able to pick off these type of projects for near nothing.. Man comes in , for whatever reason that they got there , and offer what seems to me to be a very good deal to the owners . Perhaps it was something the big companies were holding off doing.... Also you have to consider that some of these large companies do not hold the favour of the stakeholders , and they know it. Only thinking out loud !!!!!
