Man stages kidnapping to woo co-worker

A lovestruck German has staged the kidnap of his workmate so he could then rescue her in a bid to win over her affection.

Tom Mueller, 36, a banker from Eisingen, broke into colleague Tanja Schulze's home in the middle of the night and put a bag on her head while ransacking her home for four hours.

He then rang the doorbell and pretended to have frightened off the gang.

Police found Schulze's purse, which was supposedly stolen by the gang, in Mueller's pocket after they arrived.

Mueller is facing kidnapping, unlawful entry and theft charges.
