Gillard unfazed as egg misses its mark

Map: Perth 6000 A protester threw an egg at Prime Minister Julia Gillard as she arrived at the ABC's Perth offices this morning.

The egg whizzed past Ms Gillard and hit a security guard before smashing against a wall.

Ms Gillard appeared unfazed by the incident.

"I did see something flying past," she told ABC Radio afterwards.

Ms Gillard met with the woman who was hit and apologised to her.

The man who threw the egg is being interviewed by Federal Police.

Earlier Ms Gillard was heckled by protesters at a business breakfast at a Perth hotel.

The group was protesting against the Federal Government's policies on asylum seekers and the environment
