We are avid watchers of this show. Yes Bear Grylls is the real deal. However he does risk assess and consult thoroughly with survival experts in the region before embarking on his journeys. Every night my toddler asks to see 'Bear Grylls and the Sharks'. That is the most amazing footage. I believe his greatest fear is being attacked by a shark. Bear Grylls is highly respected in our house. I also love the way he talks about missing his wife and children when he is navigating his way out of danger.
