Correct me if I'm wrong, the mine won't be worthless if cyanide leaching on site is not approved. There would be the added cost of trucking the dirt to another location. I do understand the concerns. Accidents don't happen there caused, however I do believe with the proper controls this can be done safely, and has been done safely in the past. With over 30 years in the mining industry I have seen this process many times and yes I have lived down stream. Everything you see around you, everything you use was either mined or grown, so mining and agriculture are here to stay and can work together. From what I have read this mine has already received thousands of applications from locals and others wanting a job. This could be a game changer for many local people with the prospect of employment, training. Mining these days has changed a lot, safety is a big concern and breaches are costly, the company know this first hand.
