There are about 50 Mobile Virtual Network Operators in Australia, operating on 3 networks.
Current population in Australia 25 million.
I think there are too many operators for this market.
It is like living in a suburb with 50 service stations, will they all survive??
No of course not.
The only way to solve the Telecommunications problem in Australia is to reduce the amount of operators.
Not increase as the ACCC would like to do, with a final result that competition becomes deadly for all.
One way is to squeeze the MVNO's by increasing Network access cost.
Who will start first?
Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone??
Who will survive?
Telstra's dividend....
One of Penn's big blunders has been not to cut the dividend severely when he took over the helm.
For Telstra to survive, the dividend will have to be cut, maybe even to 0 cents if that is what it takes.
It is not always bad not to pay a dividend, the health of the company will be expressed in its share price.
Paying too high a dividend is like selling the table silver.
If we take Labor's announced franking credits policy in consideration, not paying a dividend at all would be an excellent way to get around that minor problem.
