For a start, both parts of that statement are incorrect - they are producing (maybe not enough) and anyone can takeover whatever they like. The resources and potential are still there - nothing's changed in that regard. The main issues are to do with cashflow and alleged underperformance of management, and those are something that a cashed up buyer can easily fix.

I'd even go as far to suggest that the current market is the ideal conditions to be driving down a price in order to get a bargain basement position...
