Politicians only start talking about mandatory imprisonment for criminals for one reason.
And that is because Judges and Magistrates are failing to adequately enforce the existing laws in line with community expectations. So, politicians want to legislate to avoid the electoral backlash.
So, who Judges the Judges? They put themselves on a pedestal, holier than thou etc etc.
Judges and Magistrates should be subjected to more stringent review. Contracts would be a great idea.
Failing to perform or incompetent, and, you get the boot.
