This is good news. Melbourne has gone from one of the safest cities, to very dangerous in the matter of a few years. About time something is done, as our Judges are letting everyone down.
I'm not going to completely blame the Brumby government as I think other social factors are causing a lot of this violence, but he deserves a large part of the blame for not tackling these problems and letting it get out of hand. I hope these sentences are introduced quickly if the Libs are elected.
