Young high school students needs to be educated not brain washed. With deepest respect to religious beliefs and theology of all faiths in general, overall, there should be less emphasis on religious education in schools and far more focus on raising responsible students is what matters, These soon to be adults need to be taught the facts of life. Being: There are over 8 billion of us on this planet and the risk of allowing students to form false beliefs about our impact on the planet born out of ignorance is a dangerous thing. The introduction of a mandatory Environmental subject in schools only requires minimal time such as 1 period a week over 1 term. It would be grossly negligent of any education system to allow students go through high school and not cover this area as it increases the risk if students falling victim to climate deniers and breeds ognorance of the environmental impacts we are having on the planet (single use plastics, burning fossil fuels, land clearing etc) It is one if the most important subjects to be touched on in schools and the sad fact is it receives little attention despite being a subject that is so simple to grasp over such a short space of time.
