I'm not upto speed with all tech side of the internet but I did have a very interesting conversation with an IT pro on the weekend.
He was suggesting, as jct pointed out, that it would be easy for people in the know to "work around" these filters. What he also went on to suggest was that, due to these filters, it would be harder for the powers that be to track down the sicko's that exchange unsavory content.
If this is true, wouldn't we be better of putting more effort into useing the internet as a tool to catch out these sicko's, than wasteing our time and money making it eaiser for them at the expense of the rest of us?
