Manganese the wonder element.
90% of it is used in steelmaking
More than 8kg of it is used in each tonne of steel produced.
Global demand production is to increase by about 50% in the next 10 years with the rapid urbanization of China, India, Africa etc.
What is interesting is that the Manganese price has been increasing in recent weeks. 99.9% Manganese used by steel mills has jumped from US$2000 a tonne to $2350 in recent weeks, even as the Iron Ore price softens to $120 a tonne according to stockpiled seasonal iron ore inventories by steel mills. A new report has come out indicating China's steel production is to be steady with growth at around 4% this year. Europe's steel production is growing again to be up 2.3% this year, after quarters of decline, as the construction and European car industry gains momentum. Global steel production is set to also grow by about 3.6% this year.
Manganese could also be the one to watch. Most of it is sold at a minimum grade of 38% which has to be beneficiated. Higher expensive grades such as 44% vary according to Iron Content, and screen separation size of mineral. (Lump)
Manganese very interesting mineral.
