spud shed , here in west australia, were selling mangoes at $1 each for a very long time - and they sold like hot cakes.
another local store would often be selling a small bucket of avocados for a few dollars for a small bucket.. maybe the avocados were seconds (too small, or out of shape) - but they were real good.
