Just remember, this is the Philippines. Until the FTAA is actually renewed, until it is locked in nothing has changed. If that happens the mine has to actually restart and that is something one simply cannot automatically take for granted. There is a real, well-organised, opposition with the support of local political machines to factor into this equation.
Just don’t forget, this is the Philippines; believe it when you see it. But, be encouraged with such an article appeared in the Manila Times. It is a clear signal that the capital is favouring renewal. The capital in the Philippines usually wins.
