Hi Crypto,
The Short figures are the daily gross reported short volume. I then divide them by the total volume for the day. This is the only way to get a feel for the % of short selling activity that day.
I do not look at intraday data but I get the impression that the shorts are applied as needed during the day to keep a lid on any up rally.
"Daily Gross Short Sales reported for 29-Mar-2012, ASX Limited (ASX) & Chi-X Australia (CHI-X)"
