I understand the concern but I see it differently.
If I'm an institution with let's say 15m (just under 5% so not substantial) that I have been trading within my mandate of ASX200 stocks. I can either dump the lot when confirmed exiting the index days ago and possibly drop the price heavy 10c ?? in one swoop thus obtaining an average lower price or I can trickle feed leading up to the last day (today) thus obtaining the best price I can at each price level. Then at close I dump the residual.
If any truth in that then it could be a good sign. All those who needed to sell due to the index are now out.
The stock is still subject to traders, who most likely own most of the registry, so it doesn't necessarily mean an upturn but I have a hunch we will see one start next week in anticipation of a non-doomsday scenario. Of course very sensitive to rumour and / or real news.
