It might be hard to get a funding to purchase an oil and gas asset let alone a company like Origin. Even the big four banks have tightened their policy to backup any oil and gas projects in Australia due to the climate change agreement.
If let's say Conoco or Shell would like to acquire Origin, then I'd assume they'll go with a consortium style along with an investment institution to backup the funding and distribute the risks. The only thing that would drive them up would be to increase their portfolio in Asia Pacific region.
