greetings mjp2.
progress with technology to address CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the air is very much a mixed bag.
Carbon capture and storage just isn't working at any meaningful commercial level and appears to be of little more use than as a fossil fuel industry diversion, ie look over there.
the LNG industry has tried to make great play of capturing carbon at the point its processed into LNG and reinjecting it into underground reservoirs.
The Gorgon LNG project offshore Australia's northwest was approved on the basis most if not all CO2 would be captured during production and injected back underground, but it's failed and million of tonnnes of CO2 are emitted each year, making Gorgon one of Australia's and the world's largest point source emitters.
the gas industry has responsibility to manage greenhouse gas emissions including methane from pipelines and been a total failure. They know only greed.
The technological revolution underpinning the transition away from fossil fuels for power generation to solar, wind, pumped hydro, big batteries and other creative sources has been a genuine wonder to behold. And its well underway if too late.
of course the corrupt in the pocket of their fossil masters are ever willing to hold back the transition wherever possible, and do so to the applause of the denier desperadoes on HC.
the acceleration of global warming in recent years and the rapid approach to the key 2.0 C degrees threshold suggests the primary agents causing accelerating warming are already in place and likely locked in.
breaching the 2.0 C degrees threshold could be functionally reached early next decade, well ahead of the 2100 target limit nominated in the Paris Agreement just 10 years ago.
even if we stopped all greenhouse gas emissions today we likely won't be able to avoid the existential crisis heading our way, just like all the scientists said..
humanity is actually at a point requiring massive emergency action but that won't be easy to begin if the pitiful level of understanding of the crisis as shown by dullard denier dolts on HC is any indication.
of course the lure for the oil and gas industry ofmaking $3 billion profits a day for the past 50 years will be a huge brake on the global rescue mission.
we can be reasonably certain that on judgement day, the fossil fuel industry will have been found to have killed the golden goose.
