one thing that is a factor which most don't notice is that in our way of life -
that as we get more extremes - particularly these massive floods in many places atm -------- UK and Europe
that crops are destroyed - and to service markets where those crops were to supply - other places take up the supply -
and then goods are transported over thousands of kilometres more - which has a large environmental cost
it becomes a cascade of interventions of supply as extreme events devastate area after area
none of the events are new --------- but, the times have changed and the number of mouths to feed is far greater and the food business has moved away from smaller local supplies - to these large corporate farms -
which when they get hit - the loss is incredible - and that loss has to be covered by somewhere else.
