Looking at the photo with the latest ANN MNM's coal is not close to the surface at all - it is above the surface sitting there in a huge ridge that looks to be all above ground.

Not really mining is it - just scraping coal up and sending them off to Exergen's new plant.

I expect its how a mouse feels when it finds a huge piece of cheese and just helps itself.

Cost of mining / scraping - practically nil.
