Most aged care facilities are privately operated, usually run by listed companies for maximum profit. The policies governing them are written and managed by the federal government.
In no way does that mean Andrews escapes the bungled hotel quarantine debacle.
There was a royal commission into aged care before the pandemic because aged care in this country is a disgrace. The blame game is rather pointless now as well. The lag time between diagnosis and death means that many more will by dying in the coming weeks. As far as I see it, all levels of government are failing us.
