Apache spuds Marathon well

US independent Apache has spudded a fifth well on its Marathon gas and condensate field in the shallow waters of Atchafalaya Bay, off the Louisiana coast.
The State Lease 20221-3 development well is being drilled to a total depth of 5700 metres, in a water depth of 2.4 metres.
Well partner Petsec Energy said was expected to take about four weeks for the well to reach total depth, log, complete and tie into production facilities.
Apache operates the well, holding a 48.75% stake, with Petsec holding 8% and a group of private companies holding the the remaining 43.25% interest.
