I agree with your sentiments generally. But just because accountants, economists and other pointy-heads are blind to the fact that jewellery making and retailing is an actual industry, and one that employs hundreds, even thousands of people in every city, doesn't mean that we should also underestimate the significance of gold to the world's economy.
